Casa Sperimentale (1)

Casa Sperimentale is an experimental house in Fregene, on the coast near Rome, designed by the architect Giuseppe Perugini in the late 1960s.

Built as a prototype for a new kind of living space, the house is made up of interlocking, moveable concrete cubes that could be rearranged to change with the needs of its occupants. It became an icon of Italian modernist architecture, but in recent decades has fallen into disrepair, vandalised and exposed to the elements. Efforts continue to preserve what remains of Perugini's vision.
